Alternative Curriculum Education (ACE) Wild will show how schools can demonstrably support disadvantaged or more vulnerable young people (including those that have a strong personal desire) to gain experiences, qualifications and work opportunities in the outdoors/linked to the environment. The focus is on Vocational Education, Learning and Training.
ACE Wild is especially relevant where practitioners are supporting pupils who can present more challenging behaviours and/or are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training).
The Research and Tools developed throughout ACE Wild will be of interest to those who need to demonstrate the impact of an ‘alternative curriculum’ and would like to use an action research approach to ensure a programme meets the needs of its pupils and community. All action research learning and tools will be disseminated through an Open Educational Resource (website) and training events.
